IRCA ISO 9001:2008 auditor transition – an update
First the bottom line – no formal auditor transition requirements have yet been finalised, but there has been some movement and discussion
Here are the key points:
About 3 weeks ago the IRCA published draft criteria for auditor transition CPD. This criteria required that registered auditors completed 4 hours structured CPD around the ISO 9001:2008 changes. The IRCA would not be publishing criteria for a recognised auditor transition training course, although the CPD must cover the items highlighted on the draft guidance note
Last week there was a change of heart and the guidance note and the requirement for 4 hours of CPD was withdrawn. The reason cited was that, on closer examination, it was decided that the changes would not be sufficiently substantive to occupy a 4 hour training session
At the time of writing, the situation is still officially under review, rest assured that as soon as new information is available, you will hear it here first
